Diethylene glycol, also known as diethylene glycol or 2,2′-oxydiethanol, is a low-toxicity polyol. At room temperature, it appears as a colorless, transparent, odorless, viscous liquid; it is hygroscopic and non-corrosive. Its melting point is −10.5 °C, its boiling point is 245 °C, and its density is 1.118 g/mL. It is miscible with water, ethanol, acetone, and other solvents, but insoluble in diethyl ether and carbon tetrachloride.
